Buying Safely

Most successful deals come down to a little common sense. Don’t take risks online that you wouldn’t take in person.

Paying

Choose a sensible payment method for the item and circumstances, and make sure you understand what protection it does or does not provide.

If payment details suddenly change or something does not feel right, stop and check before sending money.

Delivery and collection

For posted items, use an appropriate tracked or insured service where the value or nature of the item makes that sensible.

If you arrange collection in person, choose a sensible place and take the same precautions you would for any other private transaction.

Protect your personal information

Buyer and seller decide what information they want to share with each other. Do not provide personal information that the Deal does not need.

Keep important arrangements in the private Deal Room while it remains available.

Don’t be rushed

If something feels wrong, unusual or unnecessarily pressured, stop and check before proceeding.

Keep your Private Deal Summary once the Deal is complete.
