Frequently Asked Questions
Last revised: 15 September 2026
Can I browse for free?
Yes. Anyone can browse Hagglefor.
To bid and use the Marketplace trading tools, you’ll need an appropriate membership.
Is Hagglefor an auction?
Not quite. Hagglefor is designed to feel more like a real-world haggle.
Sellers can set and adjust an asking price, while buyers can place and adjust their own bids. There is no automatic bidding and reaching the seller’s asking price does not automatically complete a sale.
The seller decides if and when to strike a Deal.
What happens when a Deal is struck?
The Marketplace opportunity closes to other members and the buyer and seller enter a private Deal Room.
They arrange payment, delivery or collection directly between themselves. Hagglefor does not take payment for Marketplace items or arrange shipping.
Once the Deal is complete, both sides can keep a Private Deal Summary for their records.
Are there any fees to buy or sell?
No buyer’s premium. No seller’s commission. The deal price is the deal price.
Membership is a separate charge for access to Marketplace participation and other member features.
Does Hagglefor keep my trading history?
No. Hagglefor does not keep permanent buying or selling histories for its members.
Private Deal information is kept only for a short period in case an issue needs to be resolved, then the identifiable connection between buyer, seller and Deal is permanently deleted.
Item details that may enrich our historical archives, together with the anonymised Deal struck price, may be added to the archive without identifying who traded.
Can I sell on Hagglefor?
Seller access is approved separately from ordinary Marketplace membership.
If you have seller access, you can list suitable items under the current Marketplace rules.
What are Scheduled Drops?
Some reviewed listings are released in small groups called Scheduled Drops, sometimes around a particular theme.
A Drop controls when an item arrives in the Marketplace — it is not an auction countdown.
How does membership work?
Current prices, renewal terms and any special offer are shown before you join.
Membership normally renews automatically unless you choose Cancel automatic renewal. New Membership Agreements also have the 14-day change-of-mind period explained in the Membership Help and Customer Information pages.
What is Merryton?
Merryton is the wider family of specialist sites that Hagglefor is part of.
Sites such as Circuni provide deeper archive, history and context around particular collecting interests, while Hagglefor provides the shared Marketplace.
